Community health centre

A Checkpoint is a health centre for gay and other men who have sex with men (MSM). The Checkpoints Vaud and Zürich also counsel transgender people and their partners.


There are specific fears, i.e. of people, animals, confined spaces, riding on a train, etc. There are unspecified fears, such as the fear of illness, of death, or the fear of fear itself. In acute cases a panic attack can occur. Those affected often develop avoidance behaviour (e.g. not meeting up with people any more), in order to evade the fear. Unfortunately it cannot be cured that way.

  • Feeling watched
  • Constantly wary of catching illnesses
  • Fear of failure
  • Sleep disorders

Fears are psychologically treatable and in severe cases interim medication is recommended.
