A Checkpoint is a health centre for gay and other men who have sex with men (MSM). The Checkpoints Vaud and Zürich also counsel transgender people and their partners.


What are the most common sexual diseases among gay men?

Most sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) are easily treated but some can have serious health consequences, especially if they are not treated on time or/and if several appear at the same time.

Other existing STI’s can aid the infection and the transmission of HIV.

Therefore the following apply:

  1. The safer sex rules reduce the risk of being infected with an STI or transmitting an STI. 2. If possible get vaccinated. .
  2. If possible get vaccinated. .
  3. If symptoms occur; seek medical advice from a specialist. .
  4. At least once a year with one sexual partner and at least twice a year with more than 10 sexual partners.
  5. In the case of a diagnosed infection; inform your partner so that they can also be tested and /or be treated.
